AUSTRIAN POST AGREES TO SELL ITS FORMER HEADQUARTERS IN VIENNA'S FIRST DISTRICT TO THE SORAVIA GROUP

The transparent bidding process launched in June 2014 to coordinate the sale of Austrian Post‘s former corporate headquarters, which attracted extensive interest on the part of Austrian and international investors, was concluded. The purchase agreement for the commercial property located at Postgasse 8-10 in Vienna’s first district was signed by Soravia Group on December 22, 2014. The transaction is expected to be finalised over the next few weeks.

The commercial property in a top inner city location is a unique building complex with high development potential. In 1831 the former St. Barbara Monastery was handed over to the Austrian Postal Administration. Since the founding of the Austrian Postal and Telegraph Department in the year 1866, it has been located in this partially landmarked building. The building offers a net floor space of about 26,000 m² on a commercial property covering an area of more than 7,200 m².

The parties to the transaction agreed not to disclose details on the purchase price. The disposal of the company’s former headquarters has no impact on the operating business or on the communicated guidance of Austrian Post. Furthermore, the sale will have no effect on the company’s dividend policy which pursues the objective of further developing dividends in line with the Group’s operating results.

KPMG Advisory GmbH, Vienna and Eisenberger & Herzog Rechtsanwalts GmbH served as the exclusive consultants of Austrian Post in this bidding process.
